The Story Behind Our Foldable Wheat-Straw Travel Cup
When we designed our Eco Travel Kit, we wanted one item that would bring everything together:
something practical, compact, a little bit nostalgic – and, of course, completely plastic-free.
That’s how our Foldable Wheat-Straw Travel Cup became one of the signature pieces of the set.
It’s a small object, but it carries a big idea: everyday comfort for travellers, with a gentle respect for the planet.
Why this little cup matters
On the road, on a walk, on the beach, on a picnic – there is always a moment when you need a cup:
to take a sip of water from a spring or fountain,
to share a drink with a child outdoors,
to quickly mix something (vitamins, electrolytes, etc.),
or to avoid using yet another disposable plastic cup.
Our foldable cup was designed precisely for those moments. It folds down neatly, doesn’t take much space in a bag or pocket, and can be clipped to a child’s rucksack. It is light enough to carry all day and solid enough to trust.
And yes – we have tested it—many times. No leaks.

From old materials to the new eco-product
Long before eco-travel became a trend, collapsible cups were already part of everyday life adventure. | ![]() |
Their history goes back astonishingly far — even to the Victorian era, when wealthy travellers carried elegant sterling silver collapsible beakers.
One such 1892 Beaker is offered today for £279,97. A reminder of how valued these compact cups once were. | ![]() |
As travel became more democratic, the design evolved.
By the early 20th century — and through both World Wars — soldiers, scouts and explorers carried aluminium, tin or steel collapsible cups. They were practical, nearly indestructible, and proved their usefulness in the harshest conditions imaginable. Many families still remember them from camping trips in the 1950s–60s.

You can still find these vintage cups today, usually made from stainless steel, aluminium or tin. Clever? Yes.
But also:
cold to the touch, and not eco-friendly to manufacture,
often heavy and surprisingly expensive.
We loved the idea — but not the materials.
So we brought this classic design into the 21st century. For our product production, we use wheat straw.

A natural, eco-conscious material made from an agricultural by-product. It carries the spirit of those historic folding cups, but offers what modern families truly need today:
lightweight comfort, reusable durability,
warm and pleasant texture, fully plastic-free construction,
and a softer, safer, eco-friendly approach to travel essentials.
Available in different colours, so everyone in the family can tell their cup apart
(yes – one can be reserved for the four-legged member of the family).

Practical for real life, not just for photos
We didn’t want a “cute eco object” that lives only on Instagram.
This cup had to work in real, slightly messy, everyday life. You can use it:
on a hike, to scoop fresh water from a spring or stream,
on family walks and picnics,
on long journeys, when you want your own clean cup,
for children’s drinks on the go,
together with our paper soap leaves – to wash hands outdoors when there’s only a small bottle of water and no sink in sight.
It’s a small thing that quietly reminds you:
you’ve chosen to travel with a little less plastic today.

A small everyday ritual
We believe that sustainable choices do not have to feel like a sacrifice.
They can feel like a small, pleasant ritual:choosing your own colour of cup,
taking a moment to fill it from a spring or a bottle,
handing it to a child, a friend or even your dog,
knowing you didn’t need a plastic cup at all.
Our foldable wheat-straw cup isn’t a gadget trying to impress you.
It’s simply a quiet, reliable companion for your travels — inspired by the past, shaped for today, and kind to the future.Significant changes start with small steps.
This little cup is one of them.
